what time與when都可用于詢問時間。但what time所問的時間范圍較小, 一般詢問比較精確的時間;
而when(什么時候) 所問的時間范圍比what time要大,可詢問小的時間點, 也可詢問日期。
詢問時間和表達時間的方法:
I. 詢問時間
在英語中,常用What’s the time?或What time is it?來詢問時間,有時也可用Do you know the time?等句式來問時間。回答方式均用It’s...如:
-What time is it?幾點了?
-It’s seven o’clock.七點。
II. 表達時間
用英語表達時間有以下幾種方法:
整點表達法:如果時間是“整點”,應說:
……點鐘+o’clock (o’clock可以省略)。
如:① It’s seven (o’clock) a.m. now. 現(xiàn)在是上午七點。
② It’s two o’clock p.m. 午后兩點。
“幾點幾分”有兩種表達法:
順讀法:按“鐘點數+分鐘數”的順序,這種方法居多,也較簡單。
如: 6:18 six eighteen 7:30 seven thirty
逆讀法:按“分鐘數+past/to+鐘點數”
的順序表達。
A. 分鐘數不超過30(包含30)時,用“分鐘數+past+鐘點數”表達。
如:6:05 five past six 8:10 ten past eight
B. 分鐘數超過30時,用“分鐘數+to+鐘點數”表達。其中“分鐘數”為60減去原分鐘數,
“鐘點數”為下一個鐘點數,表示“差幾分幾點”。
如:9:50 ten to ten
2:58 two to three
... ... ...
