1. Kate realized her bag was still at home.

realize 動(dòng)詞,意為“理解;領(lǐng)會(huì);認(rèn)識(shí)到”,一般不用于進(jìn)行時(shí),其后可接名詞、代詞或從句作賓語(yǔ)。

2. When the school basketball competition started, Kate was still making her way to school.
