the Smith family指“史密斯一家”。
【易錯點】也可以用the Smiths來表示,即“the+姓氏復(fù)數(shù)”表示“……一家人”,等于“the+姓氏單數(shù)+family”。
eg:the Green family=the Greens 格林一家
“…… 一家人”在句中作主語時,謂語動詞用復(fù)數(shù)。
eg:The Browns/The Brown family are friendly to everyone.布朗一家對每個人都友好。
