表示一方超過另一方時(shí)，用“形容詞的比較級(jí)+than”結(jié)構(gòu)。
It is colder today than (it was) yesterday.
今天天氣比昨天冷。
The sun is bigger than the earth.
太陽比地球大。
(1) 形容詞的比較級(jí)前可加程度副詞(much, far, a lot, a little, even, still等)或用數(shù)量詞組修飾，表示“……得多”“甚至……” “更……”。
China is much larger than Japan.
中國(guó)比日本大得多。
My mother is two years older than my father.
我母親比我父親大兩歲。
(2) 形容詞的比較級(jí)前可用表示倍數(shù)的詞組修飾。
This bridge is three times longer than that one.
這座橋比那座橋長(zhǎng)三倍。
(3) 形容詞比較級(jí)要避免與自身進(jìn)行比較，要用”比較級(jí)+than any other+單數(shù)可數(shù)名詞”來表示“比其他的任何……都……”
Lin Tao is older than any other student in the class.
林濤比班上其他任何同學(xué)的年齡都大。
若不在同一范圍內(nèi)比較，則不用other。
Shanghai is larger than any city in Japan.
(4) 帶形容詞的比較級(jí)的慣用結(jié)構(gòu)：“比較級(jí)+and+比較級(jí)” 和“more and more+形容詞”，意為“越來越……”;“the+比較級(jí), the +比較級(jí)”意為“越……, 越……”。
The city is becoming more and more beautiful.
這座城市正變得越來越美麗。
He ran faster and faster.
他跑得越來越快。
The harder he tried, the less progress he seemed to make.
