(2) 用于“provide sb. with sth.”和“provide sth.
for sb. ”結(jié)構(gòu)中，意為“給某人提供某物”， 二者可互換，但介詞不可混淆。如：

連詞and, but, or & so
and, but, or 和so 都是連詞，可以連接兩個(gè)詞語或句子。
連詞and 表示“和，并，而且”，可以用來連接兩個(gè)結(jié)構(gòu)對(duì)等的詞語或句子，也可以起承上啟下的作用，所連接的詞語或句子之間是并列關(guān)系。如：
Millie is tall and slim.
Sandy turned off the lights and closed the door.
連詞but 表示“但是，而，可是”，所連接的詞語或句子之間是轉(zhuǎn)折關(guān)系。如：
It is sunny but windy today.
I went to see my grandfather but he was not at home
連詞or 表示“或者”，連接的詞語或句子之間是選擇關(guān)系。但是，在否定句中or則表示
并列關(guān)系。如：
Will you go shopping this afternoon or after supper?
You can ask your teacher or search on the Internet.
You cannot help her or ask others to help her.

1. I’m in Grade 9 this year, and I’m president of the student council at my school.
今年我上九年級(jí)，擔(dān)任學(xué)校的學(xué)生會(huì)主席。
表示獨(dú)一無二的職務(wù)的名詞前，通常不用冠詞。但用這些詞指代任職的人時(shí)，要用冠詞。
e.g. Who’s (the) captain of your team?

John was elected monitor of the class.

They elected John (the) chairman of the committee.

2. Student councils work to make schools better places to learn.

to learn在句中作places的定語，learn
用作不及物動(dòng)詞。不及物動(dòng)詞的不定形式作定語時(shí)，通常搭配適當(dāng)?shù)慕樵~。
e.g. I need a room to live in.
我需要一間屋子住。
She has a lot of friends to talk with.
她有很多可以交談的朋友。
但是，這樣的不定式作place的定語時(shí)，可以省略介詞。
e.g. It was very difficult for them to find a place to sleep (in).
他們很難找到一個(gè)住的地方。
