Language Points
1. Do you plan to watch the news tonight?
你今晚打算看新聞嗎？
(1)plan vt. & vi.計劃, 打算，常用搭配為plan to do sth.
計劃做某事
(2) plan 還可作名詞，如：
make plans 制定計劃
according to plan 根據(jù)計劃。 例如：
► I plan to go swimming tomorrow.
► It is better for you to make plans for your future.
2. I hope to find out what’s going on around the world.
我希望了解世界各地正發(fā)生些什么。
hope to do sth. 希望做某事
hope無雙賓語， 但其后可以接一個賓語從句，如:
► We hope all the people can protect the animals.
我們希望所有人都能保護動物。
3. go on 發(fā)生
1）同happen，常用于進行時態(tài)。
eg：What's going on here？
=What's happening here?
2）持續(xù)，繼續(xù)
eg：The noise goes on 24 hours a day.
After a short rest,he went on.
4. …but you can expect to learn a lot from them.
但是你可以從他們身上學到很多東西。
(1)expect to do sth. 期待做某事
want to do sth. 想做某事
plan to do sth. 計劃做某事
hope to do sth. 希望做某事
(2)learn from 后可以接人也可以接事物。
learn from sb. 向某人學習
earn from sth. 從某事中學習

5. discussion / dɪ'skʌʃn / n.討論，商量
have a discussion about/on sth.就某事展開討論
have a discussion with sb.和某人討論
eg: They have just had a discussion about where to go on vacation.

discuss sth.；discuss sth. with sb.；
discuss +從句。
6. happen / 'hæpən /v. 發(fā)生，出現(xiàn)
常指(不好的事）偶然發(fā)生
sth. happens/ed to sb.某人發(fā)生了什么事
eg: A traffic accident happened to his brother yesterday.
區(qū)分：take place 意為“發(fā)生，舉行”，多指計劃好的活動舉行了。
The sports meeting will take place tomorrow morning.
