句中too...to do sth意為“太……而不能做某事”,是一個表示否定意義的句型。
She was too excited to say a word when she heard the news.

They realized that it was too late to catch the last subway.
他們意識到太晚了趕不上最后一趟地鐵了。
【句式拓展】
“too...to...”不同搭配下的不同含義:
(1)某些形容詞與“too...to...”句型連用時(shí),too (=very) 表示肯定的意義。這些形容詞多為表示情感的詞,如glad,pleased,surprised,delighted,happy,easy,willing,ready,eager,anxious等。
(2)too...to...結(jié)構(gòu)和never,not,but,only等連用時(shí),表示肯定意義。意為“十分……”“實(shí)在……”,“真是太……”等。
They seemed to be too nervous and were too anxious to leave.
他們看起來太緊張,并且急于離開。
I am only too glad to accept your invitation.
我很樂意接受你的邀請。
