Identify the part of speech of the verb-ed form in the following sentences.
① In Uganda, Ryan at last saw the finished well with his own eyes.
② Many inspired people gave him their support.
③ Ryan had troubled believing the words spoken by his teacher.
④ A well built near a primary school in Uganda cost $2000.
名師精析
(1)有些過(guò)去分詞表示特定含義,單獨(dú)作定語(yǔ)時(shí)也放在被修飾名詞之后。如left(剩余的)、given(所給的)、concerned(有關(guān)的)等。
(2)如果被修飾的詞是指示代詞those或something、everything、anything、
nothing、nobody等不定代詞時(shí),單個(gè)的過(guò)去分詞作定語(yǔ)要放在被修飾詞的后面。
過(guò)去分詞短語(yǔ)作定語(yǔ)時(shí)往往放在被修飾詞之后(絕大部分可以轉(zhuǎn)換成一個(gè)含有被動(dòng)語(yǔ)態(tài)的從句)。
