at the age of…在……歲時，of后接數(shù)字，表示年齡，常與when引導(dǎo)的時間狀語從句互換。
My grandpa began to work at the age of 12.= My grandpa began to work when he was 12. 我爺爺在12歲時開始工作。
2. When she was nineteen months old, Helen fell ill. 海倫在19個月大的時候生病了。
fall ill/sick生病，表示短暫動作。跟表示一段時間的狀語連用時，應(yīng)用be ill/sick.
The boy has been ill for a week. 這個男孩病了一周了。
3. As Helen grew older, she made a lot of progress and learned to read. 隨著年齡的增長，海倫進(jìn)步很大，并學(xué)會了閱讀。
