They are the tropical, temperate, and polar climate zones.
Learning to learn
When you hear a word that you don’t recognise, don’t panic! Try to note down how it sounds, and keep listening. When you have finished listening, try to work out the meaning from the context of the word.
Sample
Student A: I live in the tropics. On the one hand, it’s usually warm all year round. But on the other, it can sometimes get too hot to go outside, and even dangerous when the tropical storms hit, which can bring strong winds and heavy rain.
Student B: But It’s easy to grow food. Tropical fruit and vegetables are delicious.
Student A: Yes. Another good aspect is that the jungles are full of beautiful plants and animals. I heard you came from the Arctic. The Northern Lights are amazing, right? I’ve seen it from the pictures.
