Think about words about feelings and make a dialogue with your partner.

When do you feel proud?

When I win a game, I feel proud.

Language practice

It tastes good.

You look very pretty.

It doesn’t smell fresh.

I feel nervous when I speak Chinese.

這些句子中的taste, look, smell和feel是系動(dòng)詞。

Grammar

系動(dòng)詞(連系動(dòng)詞):它本身有詞義,但不能單獨(dú)作謂語(yǔ),后面必須跟表語(yǔ)構(gòu)成系表結(jié)構(gòu),說(shuō)明主語(yǔ)的狀態(tài)、性質(zhì)、特征等。

系動(dòng)詞可分為兩類:

1. 狀態(tài)系動(dòng)詞:用來(lái)表示主語(yǔ)狀態(tài),只有最常用的be。

例如:He is a teacher.  他是一名教師。

2. 感官系動(dòng)詞

看起來(lái) look: look smart

聽(tīng)起來(lái) sound: sound noisy

嘗起來(lái) taste: taste delicious

摸起來(lái) feel: feel soft

聞起來(lái) smell: smell sweet

這類系動(dòng)詞與系動(dòng)詞be不同,其否定形式和疑問(wèn)形式要加助動(dòng)詞。

例如:Does the party sound noisy?  聚會(huì)(聽(tīng)起來(lái))很吵嗎?

The cake doesn’t taste delicious.  蛋糕嘗起來(lái)并不好吃。

【拓展】還有表示變化的連系動(dòng)詞,主要有become,grow,turn等, 這些系動(dòng)詞表示主語(yǔ)變成什么樣。

例如:The spring comes, and the trees turn green.春天來(lái)了,樹(shù)葉變綠了。

Possible answers

I like pandas. They look funny and friendly.

I don’t like cheese. It smells very strong.

I like my teacher’s voice. It sounds nice.

I love fruit because it tastes sweet and fresh.

Summary

Let’s sum up what we have learned. 

be動(dòng)詞

感官系動(dòng)詞:look, sound, smell, taste, feel 等

變化系動(dòng)詞:become, get, turn 等

What does… look like? 用來(lái)詢問(wèn)一個(gè)人的外貌。

What is… like? 用來(lái)詢問(wèn)一個(gè)人的性格特點(diǎn)。
