Language points
1. …looking after us was more than a full-time job.
…照料我們比做一份全職工作還要辛苦.
這句話的主語是動(dòng)名詞短語looking after us。單個(gè)v-ing形式短語在句中作主語時(shí)，謂語動(dòng)詞要用單數(shù)。句中more than表示“不只是，多于”。例如：
He is more than a coach. He is a friend.
他不只是教練，更是朋友。
2. …what’s more, because I was a girl.
而且，我是個(gè)女孩。
what’s more表示遞進(jìn)，“然而/還有…… ”的意思，獨(dú)立使用，既可以放句首，也可以放句中，what’s more后面加逗號(hào)。
你應(yīng)該記住它，更重要的是，應(yīng)該正確理解它。
