1. You mean, those clubs where people go to practice their English? 你指的是人們常去練英語的那些俱樂部嗎？
這里you mean 表示“你意思是說… …?常用在口語中，用于核實(shí)你確實(shí)聽懂了某人所說的話。例如：
---Do you remember Jane?
你還記得簡嗎？
--- The woman we met in Scotland, you mean?
你指的是我們?cè)谔K格蘭見到的那位女士？
2. I always thought they were for people who speak good English already. 我原來一直以為，這些俱樂部是為那些英語已經(jīng)說得很好的人開辦的。
在這個(gè)句子中，thought 表示“原以為… … (但實(shí)際并非如此 )”。 例如：
I thought he was honest, but I’m wrong.
我原以為他誠實(shí)，但我錯(cuò)了。
I thought you would be late --- it rained so heavily!
