Language Points

1.When you visit a foreign country ,it is important to know how to ask for help politely.當(dāng)你去外國(guó)旅游時(shí),知道如何禮貌地尋求幫助是重要的。

politely 副詞,意為“禮貌地;客氣地”。它是由形容詞polite(有禮貌的;客氣的)加后綴-ly 構(gòu)成的副詞。其反義詞impolitely意為“無(wú)禮地”。

e.g.:He speaks to everyone politely. 

助記 

polite(adj. 有禮貌的)      politely(adv. 有禮貌地)

2.These are similar requests for directions.這些是關(guān)于方位的類似請(qǐng)求。

request可數(shù)名詞,意為“要求,請(qǐng)求”,其后常接

for+n.,意為“要求/請(qǐng)求……”。

e.g.:We should make a request for help.

request用作及物動(dòng)詞,意為“要求;請(qǐng)求”。常見

用法有:

①request sth. (from sb.) 意為“(向某人)請(qǐng)求某事/某物”。

e.g.:He will request your help.

The man requested some hot water from me.

②request sb. to do sth. 意為“請(qǐng)求某人做某事”。

e.g.:She requested me to stop to listen to her.

③request + that從句(從句用虛擬語(yǔ)氣:

should +動(dòng)詞原形,should 可以省略)意為“請(qǐng)求……”。

e.g.:I requested that she (should) come an hour earlier.

direction意為“方向;方位”,directions意為“指示,(行路的)指引”。

e.g.:He drove his car in the direction of Hong Kong.

He has a poor sense of direction.

A very helpful woman gave me directions to the police station.
